I started off the week with some tasty leek and potato soup,
then tried my hand at yeast pancakes in the morning, because I realized that my
milk was close to its expiry date and I thought the pancakes sounded good. They
turned out quite well, and were kind of like crumpets because they were thick
and moist and not that sweet (at least until I put jam on them). I ate them for
breakfast the rest of the week.
For my American birthday I made a yum-yum cake, which is
like spicy/brown sugary with sultanas, which was very decadent with the double
cream. Here is it in all its modest glory (not too fancy to look at, but really
yum-yum and I definitely succumbed).
Then of course there were my lovely birthday meals (the fish
and chips and gelato) but I’ve already discussed those at length (although no
harm in the fond memories).
